Chapter 1: Forks

After my Mother's choice to move me to live with my Father in Forks, Washington, I always knew it would be hard saying goodbye. But I knew this was the right thing to do. I wanted her to be happy. Having me around the house all the time sure wasn't good for her. So I agreed to live with Charlie, my dad for a while.

"Sweetie I'm gonna miss you!" She said to me, her voice as soft and elegant as ever. "I'll e-mail you every night. Remember, I'm just a phone call away. If you want to come back home at any point, its fine, OK," This was pretty much all she had said on the plane ride here. But her concern about me was just a sign that she loved me.

"I know mum, I know,"  I muttered. "I'll E-mail you too. Tell you what I have been up to. Don't worry about me though, I'm practically an adult! But, I'll miss you too," I didn't want her to worry about me much-It would just add to her list of worries. But I was upset about moving here, and leaving the hot Phoenix sun for dreary Forks.

"OK Sweetie, tell Charlie I said hi! And please, whatever you do, don't let him cook! That's one of the reasons I left him! I'm surprised he hasn't been struck down with food-poisoning!" Her humour always made me laugh, and, she tried her hardest to see me smile.

"I will do mum, Don't worry." I reassured her

"Is it time already?! You're going to miss your bus, I better go," She said, stressing, as usual.

We hugged one last time, and i knew it would be a while until  would feel my Mothers arms around me. But i kept telling myself this is what makes her happy. Its not all about you, Bella.

I hadn't been to my dads house since I was 10. but it was just how i remembered it, white, with the hint of fairy tale estique. Outside was a friendly face-the face of my Father, Charlie.

I shot him a loving glance, and he looked back, happy to see me. It had been ages since i last saw him. I think he was a little annoyed i put seeing him at the bottom of my to-do-list.

"Welcome home, Bells." His friendly and familiar voice muttered. A warm smile lit up on his face. "You've changed a lot since i last saw you!" I think he was hinting at the fact i hadn't seen him in a while. "Your not a little girl any more. Your mothers taken good care you!" He chuckled.

"I know, Dad. I'm glad to see you, too. Although, you haven't changed much;" We both chuckled at my subtle joke.

He then pulled me into one of his huge hugs he always gave me as a child-and i knew at that point, that was where i belonged.

"Oh, and I even left your room exactly the same as when you last touched it. Haven't been in there once, I don't think, since you left last time." His voice got a little weaker, I could tell i was hurting him from hardly ever seeing him.

He suddenly seemed to perk up a little, like he had remembered something good. "I also got you a little present. Nothing big, really. My old friend Billy Black helped deck it out for me. Want to see it?" He asked.

I grimaced. "Dad, you know how much I hate presents! But, I guess i could accept it, seeing as i missed you so much." I said, trying to perk him up a little.

"Bells, your gonna love it! Come with me, its over here.." He guided me off to his driveway next to the house

I stared at the Red truck, sitting neatly in the drive, like it belonged there. I looked at it in a amazement. And he said it was 'nothing big!'

"Thanks Dad, I love it! at least now, I don't have to save up for a new car!" I felt like a ton had been lifted off my shoulders. Tired and groggy as I was, I left me gift and headed upstairs to me room.

It was just how I had remembered it. Old, dull, but still, just the way I liked it.

So this was my new life. Forks, Charlie, The house. It would take some time getting used to, but I think I can manage. I had a mother who cared much about me, and a Father that loved me to pieces. For once in my life, I felt Happy.

My Dad walked in whilst I was resting. He was in his uniform, a chief officer at the local station.

"Sorry bells, I'm off to work. Make yourself at home, I'll see you later" He murmed, then walked out. I listened at his cruiser pulled out the drive and into the road.

Before long, Night had fallen. Stars twinkled miles above the night sky, in a sea of black. The moon was the main attraction, glistening high above the mountain.

That night, I dreamt not of Forks, but, of Phoenix. The hot sun blazing down from the sky, and My Mother and her husband Phil. In my dreams I was still with them. Still with my old friends, my old life.
But forks was my life now.
